The following are the new features included in Tenable Nessus 10.12.0:

  • Modernized user interface with new capabilities:
    • You can now move an existing scan from a list view into a folder or directory within Tenable Nessus by using drag-and-drop functionality.
    • You can now import files by dragging a scan file (for example, a .nessus file) from your local computer and dropping it directly into Tenable Nessus.
  • Added support for OpenSSL 3.5.
  • Added support for FIPS-140.3.
  • Implemented several updates to ensure the proper use of free and paid Tenable Nessus offerings.
  • Tenable Nessus can now use Sensor Proxy to connect to Tenable Security Center versions 6.9.0 and later.
  • Added the --scan-zones parameter to the nessuscli link command and the SCAN_ZONES environment variable to the Docker run command for linking managed Tenable Nessus scanners to Tenable Security Center. Note: Tenable Security Center versions 6.9.0 and later will support this parameter. Changed Functionality and Performance Enhancements The following changes are included in Tenable Nessus 10.12.0:
  • Updated API permissions to align with the permissions allowed in the user interface.
    • If you previously used unauthenticated requests to download files from Tenable Nessus, you must now authenticate those requests with a session token.
    • Removed API access to plugin rules for users with Basic permissions. Security Updates The following are security updates included in Tenable Nessus 10.12.0:
  • Fixed a vulnerability where users with Basic and Standard permissions could access Tenable Agent bug report download endpoints. Bug Fixes

  • If you are connecting to Tenable Vulnerability Management through Tenable Nessus scanners, Tenable Agents, Tenable Web App Scanning scanners, or Tenable Network Monitors (NNM) located in mainland China, you must connect through sensor.cloud.tenablecloud.cn instead of sensor.cloud.tenable.com.
  • You can upgrade to the latest version of Tenable Nessus from any previously supported version.
  • If your upgrade path skips versions of Tenable Nessus, Tenable recommends reviewing the release notes for all skipped versions to learn about new features and bug fixes.
  • If you want your scanners to update to the newest version before the GA date automatically, set your Tenable Nessus Update Plan to Opt in to Early Access releases.
  • If you want to update your scanners to the latest version before the GA date manually, disable automatic updates so the scanner does not automatically downgrade to the previous version.
