Welcome to the v9.0.0 release of the Opentrons App! This release includes protocol visualization and other feature improvements and bug fixes.
New Features
- Bring your protocols to life in the Opentrons App! Protocol visualization lets you:
- View Python protocol steps like tip pickup and disposal, labware and liquid moves, module steps, and more alongside a view of the robot deck.
- Check new Python protocol steps and errors in a visual, playable format.
- Assess the results of an OpentronsAI protocol before running on the Flex.
Click Visualize on the details page of any Flex protocol to get started.
Improvements
- Quick transfer protocols now include the same features as any other Flex protocol:
- Go to the Protocols tab on the touchscreen to start a quick transfer.
- Find completed quick transfers in the Protocols tab.
- Pin a quick transfer protocol to find it easily.
- Enable the Flex or OT-2's built-in camera for additional settings:
- Adjust image and video settings like zoom, brightness, contrast, and saturation.
- Preview an image of the Flex or OT-2's deck when customizing camera controls.
- Updated image filenames make it easier to find images from your protocol runs.
Bug Fixes
- Drop tip locations are properly exported in Quick Transfer protocols.
- Adding a CSV file to an imported protocol no longer causes analysis errors.
- Protocol run logs include correct descriptions for partial tip pickup with the Flex 96-channel pipette.
Known Issues
- To access the most accurate protocol details, we recommend using the computer your robot was connected to at protocol runtime:
- When re-running a completed protocol, you won't be able to open protocol visualization if the protocol was started on a different computer. Open visualization from the protocol details page instead.
- You may not be able to download protocol images onto computers that weren't connected during the protocol run.
- Protocol visualization will produce an error for protocols that dispose of tips into a standard labware instead of a trash container.
